Eco-efficiency of Life Style and Rebound Effects

Abstract

It is pointed out in the literature of sustainable consumption that the so-called rebound effects should be properly taken into account in evaluating the environmental impacts of lifestyle. We developed an evaluation method, which can properly take account of the rebound effects, by extending an economic household production model and the waste input-output models and integrating them. We also applied the developed method to Japanese data to carry out a scenario analysis.
