Abstract
Mechanical strength of sand molds is determined by the degree of fineness and the shape of the sand or by the mixture of sand of different grain size and by the binder.
The best mixture of sand of various grain sizes was determined.
A proper proportioning of large and small grains produces a mold stronger than the one made with uniform grains.
