Studies on CO₂ Process Particularly on Viscosity of Sodium Silicate Binders

Abstract

  Water glasses of high viscosity are very unfavourable for the use of gas moulding process from the view points of reactivity of the binders with CO₂ gas, the mould strength and the easiness of mulling and stripping.
  While, those of low viscosity remain much water content in the mould, being harmfull to the casting metals.
  The author has studied the methods of determining the optimum viscosity by experimental works.
