Abstract
Fe-C-Si melts into which Al was added were statistically solidified at different cooling rates. Generation and distribution of AlN insoluble in 6N-HCl were examined by chemical analyses. AlN in the melt floats off more easily at lower cooling rate down to the completion of eutectic solidification. Most of the AlN forms in the liquid state. The amount of AlN depends on the cooling rate down to the completion of eutectic solidification. More of AlN forms at lower cooling rate.
