Abstract

We attempted to develop Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) educational materials by organizing the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN) education, which is subdivided into each subject. As an experimental practice to elucidate the physical characteristics of silicon used for Zener diodes, we estimated various physical quantities from the measurement of voltage-current characteristics without using a special device. From the slope, the magnitude of the energy gap of silicon was estimated to be 1.0 eV. We applied this educational material to foreign and other KOSEN college students and confirmed its educational impact. Thus, the educational environment of KOSEN is suitable for STEM educational material preparation.
