Gabureco: Design and Implementation of an Online Tour System for Use on Safari Buses

Abstract

In this research, we implemented Gabureco, an online tour system for jungle buses (the wire-mesh covered buses provided by safari parks). Gabureco consists of feeding tongs to which a camera and PC are attached, making it possible to record and transmit the moment an animal eats its food, at close range. A controller is attached to the part of the tongs that is held, with which the user can perform pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) camera operations. The proposed system has been improved through repeated use by animal keepers at Fuji Safari Park. Thus, we have implemented a system that can provide online jungle bus tours bursting with reality.
