Abstract
When kept in continuous contact with some pigments, Candida will acquire by degrees a kind of resistance against them.
The author cultivated Candida albicans in successive generations in the cultures containing Gentiana violet, Pyoctanin blue, Malachite green and Brilliant green and found that C. albicans will get complete or nearly complete resistance to them.
In addition, the author found that although the Gentiana violet-resisting pigment bacteria show cross-resistance to other pigments, the other pigment-resisting bacteria used in his experiments do not necessarily show any remarkable cross-resistance.
