Abstract
1) Many cases showed decrease in the number of erythrocytes, the degree of change was high in normal persons and patients with minimal disease.
2) Hemoglobin content increased in half of the case and decreased in the other half. The red blood cell count corresponds with the hemoglobin.
3) The total white blood cell count were generally increased to some extent, which was thought to be the neutrophilia.
4) in general, a marked neutrophilia was observed which was prominent in cases of minimal symptoms There was, however, a dissociation between the segmented nuclear and band cells. The segmented nuclear cells increased markedly in normal persons and patients with minimal disease, while in moderate or severe cases both types of cells increased to a similar degree.
5) The degree of eosinopenia was inversly proportional to the severity of disease.
