Abstract
1) Bronchospirometrically measured unilateral inhalation test with 5 percent of oxygen (plus 95 percent of nitrogen) is a useful method of pulmonary function.
2) Sometimes risks may be presumed in surviving with another side of his lung only when one cannot endure unitateral inhalation test with 5 percent of oxygen.
3) The results from oxymeter, 131IMAA examination and various ventilation tests revealed the fact that higher values of both oxygen-uptake and oxygen removal in unilateral lung indicate better pulmonary function. The compensatory abilities can be kept no matter how much their VC value may be, if they have over 40 percent in their oxygenuptake unilaterally.
4) Favorable results in VT V or lung scanning are found among those who show smaller changes of values in the inhalation test with 5 percent of oxygen.
