Abstract
The AFP test is a routine examinations to find the primary liver cancer and we collected about 8, 000 blood samples from about 5, 000 cases visited to our hospital during the past 8 months, There were eleven positive cases among them. In this duration, AFP was detected in 7 of 9 cases with the proved hepatocellular carcinoma, thus the result indicated to be 78% of the positivity rate.
On the other hand, particularly interesting thing is that AFP occured in 3 out of 17 patients with metastatic liver cancer, indicating the positivity rate is 18%.
The eleventh case in whom AFP was found, was made a diagnosis to be a chronic hepatitis by initial examination, and AFP was still observed in this patient by the follow-up study.
All other healthy persons and the patients with liver disease or malignant tumors can be shown to be lack of this protein.
