Abstract
During the past five years, atrial synchronous pacemakers have been implanted in 16 patients with atrioventricular block. Eleven patients underwent the implantation of VAT mode pacemakers, five patients underwent VDD mode pacemakers. Resting hemody-namics was evaluated. Cardiac index and stroke volume with atrial synchronous pacing was generally 20% higher than with ventricnlar pacing. CTR was reduced significantly. One patient developed pacemaker mediated tachycardia. Ventriculo-atrial conduction time was 180ms, and VDD mode was changed to VVI mode in this patient. Enertrax 7100 and other similar pacemakers are unsuitable for atrial synchronous pacing.
