In recent years, the number of patients with voiding disturbance by non-urological diseases as well as urological diseases have increased with the increasing number of elderly people. These patients are not treated urologically, and apt to be left frequently as it is.
This time, actual survey and its analysis concerning “voiding disturbance caused by non-urological diseases” were carried out by joint study of 6 national hospitals, and its results are reported as follows.
As to the diseases causing voiding disturbance, cerebrovascular diseases, spinal cord diseases, diabetic mellitus and postoperative status of intrapelvic surgery were more com-mon.
The symptoms such as dysuria, urinary retention and urinary incontinence were fre-quently observed.
The rystometry revealed many uninhibited bladders in patients with cerebrovasular diseases, and many motor paralytic bladders in other diseases. The complications by the urinary tract infection in these patients were less common.
Many patients became free from catheter by appropriate medication and training of the urination with favorable therapeutic methods by various urological tests.
These findings suggest that patients with voiding disturbance by non-urological disea-ses should perform spontaneous urination according to close urological tests and ap-propriate treatment.
