Abstract
1) By means of elution of Caolin-adsobate of the tuberculin polypeptide with 2% glycine, we could obtain a very potent non-protein tuberculin fraction.
2) On the paper chromatogram, combined with skin-test bioautogram, the tuberculin polypeptide shows three kinds of zone from the viewpoint of tuberculin potency in connection with the potypeptide or amino acid:
(1) polypeptide zone having a definite tuberculin potency,
(2) non-amino zone with highly active tuberculin potency.
(3) Amino acid zone without tuberculin potency,
3) It is correct that the main active principle of tuberculin is at least protein in
nature; however, the active atom group is said to be not necessarily unisolable from the protein, and a crtain non-protein active principle is to be separated from the tuberculin polypeptide.
4) The study of the chemical nature of the non-protein fraction is now in progress.
