Abstract
In 101 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis treated with p-acetylaminobenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone at the National Aichi Sanatorium following side-effects were observed.
1) Gastrointestinal symptoms were noted in 69.3% and nervous symptoms in 65.3%.
2) Skin rashes:
A) Erythema and others symptom complex were observed in 43.5%. of the patients who had eaten mackerels, sardines, horsemackerels, mackerel-pickes etc The symptoms appeared within 30 minutes after meal and continued for about 3 hours in almost all the cases.
B) In some cases were noted papules or urticaria These symptoms were found to be prevented or successfully treated with the use of antihistaminic remedies, adrenalin or atropin.
3) Disturbances of liver function appeared in the second week after instituting the therapy. The symptoms abated in the eighth or tenth week. Albuminuria or hemoptysis was noted in a few cases.
