Abstract
A 7-year-old girl was admitted with melena in March 2000. Colonoscopy and bariumenema study revealed a large pedunculated polyp at the hepatic flexure, which was extremely lobulated and 3cm in diameter. Endoscopic polypectomy was done after sufficient informed consent. The histologic features showed granulomatous changes with severe inflammation including eosinophils at the surface of the polyp. In addition, it demonstrated marked cystic dilatation of the glands without neoplastic changes in the depth of the polyp. Final histopathological diagnosis of Juvenile polyp was done by endoscopic polypectomy alhough it was difficult to diagnose by macroscopic and bioptic findings. This is the second case of Juvenile polyp of right hemicolon in Japan.
