Abstract
The cholinesterase activity in serum of tuberculosis was measured by the manometric method of Warburg.
The results were followed: —
1) Serum cholinesterase activity of tuberculosis decreases in order of minimal, moderately and far advanced lesions. No significant difference between healthy persons and moderately cases is observed.
2) In the cases treated with streptomycin with good results serum cholinesterase activity increases gradually with the improvement of disease states. On the contrary no remarkable variation is recognized in the fruitless or worse turned cases.
3) Decrease of serum cholinesterase in tuberculous patients is not probably based on the existence of poisonous substance by which cholinesterase activity has been arrested.
4) Moreover even in the cases which liver function has been improved and urobilinogen in the urine is decreased by dl-methionin, significant variation in serum cholinesterase activity is not recognized
