Abstract
[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of introducing voluntary practice in the rehabilitation room for stroke patients with mild motor palsy in the acute phase. [Subjects and Methods] A man in his 60s who developed a left lower bridge infarction. A total of 26 days of self-practice in the rehabilitation room was carried out for one hour a day, six days a week. The content of the exercises included hand function improvement using pegs and washcloths, and chopstick manipulation. In addition, the results of weekly evaluations were visualized and OTR provided feedback to the subjects. The evaluation items were FMA, STEF, and MAL. [Results] In addition to the improvement in upper extremity function, the frequency of AOU use improved to 4.6 points, which was about 90% of the pre-diagnosis score, and the right upper extremity became the main source of movement. [Conclusion] Even in acute care hospitals, ”guaranteeing the amount of practice” and ”voluntary training by promoting monitoring” are important.
