In order to carry out a blow-out operation with emptying a blast furnace without troubles such as the channeling, the overheat of top gas and the abnormal lowering of hot metal temperature, a system has been developed to establish an operation schedule by means of a two-dimensional gas flow model and an one-dimensional dynamic model.
In this system, the two-dimensional gas flow model is used for the simulation of gas flow distribution in the blast furnace at each stage in the operation to evaluate the critical blast volume to the channeling and the one-dimensional dynamic model is used for the following purposes:
1) To predict the transitions of the stock level, the top gas temperature and the hot metal temperature during the blow-out operation
2) To build a water sprinkling schedule to avoid the overheat of top gas
3) To decide the coke rate at the beginning of blow-out operation to prevent hot metal temperature from the abnormal lowering.
This system was applied to the emptying blow-out operation of Kokura No. 2 blast furnace in March 1981, to give a satisfactory result.
