Abstract
Through the analysis on the development electric fields of conventional mono-component developing system and two-component developing system, we developed a new mono-component developing system named“FEED (Floating Electrode Effect Development) Toning System”employing a developing roller having a special structure.
It consists of a dielectric layer formed on a conductive substrate and a vast number of small isolated electrodes imbeded in the surface of the dielectric layer.
The developing roller selectively intensifies the spatial frequency components of the development electric field. The small electrodes intensity the higher frequency components. And the DC component is determined by the chracteristics of the dielectric layer. Because the higher frequency components are confined near the surface of the photoconductor, above mentioned features of the roller can be varied with no interference between two. This gives a great benefit for designing electrophotographic system.
With this benefit, “FEED Toning System”has achieved the similar image reproducible characteristics to that of the conventional two-component system.
