Abstract

Music probably has effects on physical condition and complaints, or subjective symptoms, of individuals. We investigated the effects of music by questionnaires based on self-assessment. The data were collected before and after a public concert. Most of the attendants expressed improvement in both their physical conditions and complaints, and significant change in the median of the data showed the effectiveness. Statistical significance was confirmed by two rank tests as p=0.000061. We concluded that certain kinds of music have effects to improve physical condition and complaints of individuals and that the rank tests are useful to evaluate specific changes in subjective experiences such as physical condition and so on.
