Abstract
Qigong therapy has only recently become more widely known, with some university hospitals beginning to incorporate it into their treatments. There are several methods of Qigong therapy. When internal Qigong was performed on oneself in a 40-minute session the levels of adrenaline, noradrenaline, and cortisol decreased, while the levels of natural killer (NK) cell activity and interleukin (IL)-2 increased immediately. These results indicated that internal Qigong decreases the level of sympathetic nerve activity, relieves stress, and increases immunogenic potential. In the case of external qigong, NK cell activity decreased immediately after the treatment before increasing again after 40 minutes. A similar trendeney was observed after remote qi emission. Many of the Qigong therapists who achieved the most marked results utilize spiritual energy. Further investigation into spiritual healing needs to be made.
