Abstract
We studied the application of external Qigong as an example of CAM to relieve the side effects in hemodialysis patients. In order to scientifically verify the effect of Qigong therapy, tcPO_2 and tcPCO_2, deep body temperature, blood flow of peripheral circulation, and body surface temperatures were measured. Qigong treatment was found to cause the parasympathetic nerve to acquire superiority, probably thereby improving the peripheral circulation through the expansion of the peripheral blood vessel. Electroencephalogram measurements during the external Qigong treatment led to the elucidation that a wave takes a relatively strong relaxed state under the treatment.
