Abstract
We considered the relation between breathing in qigong and change in autonomous never activity by correlating the change in autonomous nerve activity with the movement of the abdomen and chest while breathing. We found that the autonomous nerves become predominantly sympathetic when the chest contracts. In the case of vomiting, sympathetic nerves are activated and the autonomous nerves replace parasympathetic predominance by absorbing breath.
