Abstract
Prayer has power to heal not only oneself but also other people. In this study, the EEG (electroencephalogram) of a praying man was measured during the prayer. The subject in this study was this author himself. The relationship between the results of the EEG and the content of his consciousness during the prayer was examined. This type of the prayer was "The World Peace Prayer", a kind of meditation. The results indicated the following changes during the second half of a 10 minute prayer. The α wave in frontal area enlarged. The lag time of the α phase between the frontal and occipital areas became extremely small. The α frequency in the occipital area became lower while θ wave enlarged in both the frontal and occipital area. A different study on another type of prayer, "In for purification", was performed by measuring the bio-photon level of a plant. The experiment proved that the "In" gives an active life force to living things.
