Abstract
In his commentary on The Tales of Ise, Shinkei obscured the existence of the philosophy of Godai in the scene of the death of Nijo no Kisaki in section 39. Shinkei, on the other hand, pointed out its existence and the tradition leads to the commentary by Sougi. However, the commentary by Keichu, which is often called a new commentary, a different interpretation is given by negating the concepts of "joken" and "danken." In this presentation, focusing on Keichu's discussion in his commentary, I would like to consider the possibility or impossibility of the survival of the soul.
