Abstract
This paper describes the features and operational structure of the CHN system, an EC system developed by the CHN research and development project. The results of the experimental application of the system conducted in November and December in 2000, and problems revealed through the experimental trade are also presented here. In the experimental trade conducted under the EC system, cabbages and broccoli (approx.40 tons) were shipped to Japan from China four times. Although there was no serious problem with the quality of the products, several problems were revealed on both the Japanese side and Chinese side.
