64QAM-Signal Transmission Experiment over Up-Stream of Cable Television System

Abstract

We measured various characteristics on the up-streams of Ehime CATV, such as Carrier to Noise Ratio(CNR), Impulse Noise, Reflection, and Bit Error Rate(BER). After that, over one up-stream, which we recognized as relatively good condition in respect of the measurement results, we transmitted MPEG2 coded video signal by 64QAM. As a result, flawless picture and BER of less than 1×10^&ltg;-10> (post FEC) were obtained.
