Abstract
This paper describes the application of protocol analysis to the design of a TV selection screen and menu architecture. Using this method, we were able to identify problems which are easily overlooked in ergonomic design and which do not lend themselves to discovery by questionnaire. We demonstrate the effectiveness of protocol analysis for this application.
