Abstract
We have proposed a novel full-color reflective LCD named "R-OCB cell" composed of a mirror reflector and a front diffusing film. In order to realize a high quality reflective LCD, the reflective LCD must have a high brightness, high contrast ratio without color shift in a wide viewing angle range. In this paper, we discuss the design rule of liquid crystal layer and retardation films to obtain a high contrast ratio without color shift in a wide viewing angle range.
