24-2 Development of high Quality Video Transmission System over IP Network : Transmission Protocol

Abstract

Video file transmission protocol is described, which is used in a high quality video transmission system over IP network. The proposed protocol enables 1) high throughput transmission over long distance line, 2) resuming transmission from disruption of former transmission, and 3) to start the transmission of video file under construction. Experiments using a network delay emulator show that the proposed protocol can provide 3 Mbit/s throughput for communication link with 200 msec round trip delay.
