14-6 A Study on image coding using color prediction

Abstract

This paper examines how to reduce the redundancy between signals that exist in the luminance and the chrominance in order to improve compressibility. We propose the method of predicting the chrominance from the luminance by conversion using a few coefficients. The simulation experiment shows that the proposed method is twice as effective as the conventional method at the low bit rate.
