9-3 Participation of ocular chromatic aberration and intercone spacing in color assimilation

Abstract

Color assimilation observed with stripes against a dark background was consistently stronger with peripheral view than with foveal view. The observation suggests that color assimilation is caused by wider intercone spacing in the peripheral area of the retina as well as by the ocular chromatic aberration.
