Abstract
Previously we have proposed the hybrid redundant-DCT that is constructed by combining the redundant DCT and the shift-invariant Haar wavelet transform hierarchically, and demonstrated its good denoising-performance. However, this approach has the drawback that noticeable artifacts appear along sharp color edges. To remedy this drawback, this paper applies the Haar wavelet transform instead of the DCT locally to a block with an edge in it, and experimentally shows its improvements.
