21-6 Visual perceptual extraction of gloss parts from an image : The Visual Perception of Image Qualities

Abstract

We have developed new visual perceptual extraction of gloss parts from an image by Multiscale Retinex applied technology. We confirmed that our technique could properly extract the parts which a human subjectively feels as gloss. Our technique achieved better results than a gloss part extraction method based on dichromatic reflection model.
