Abstract
We propose a movie search system allowing abstract queries caused by users' vague memories. The prototype system shows correct results matching the user's intention even if the user does not have a concrete query. We developed two sub-systems: a query expansion system based on semantic relations, and a search system using textual alignment recognition. We compared them with a TF-IDF based search algorithm, and showed that the rank of the correct answer is higher in our system than in the compared algorithm.
