Abstract

We measured the empirical horopter at different apparent distances of the standard stimulus. The standard and comparison stimuli were presented with disparities on a display. Observers reported where they appeared at the same depth plane. The results showed that the empirical horopter was positioned closer to the standard stimulus as the apparent distance of the standard stimulus decreased. The stereoscopic space could be less distorted in front of the zero-disparity plane
