Adaptive Direct Motion Vector Estimation with Simple Decoder-side Refinement

Abstract

We propose a method of combination of explicit and implicit direct vector derivation with Decoder-side ME. First of all, the best candidate is selected with explicit signaling. Then, we search around best candidate with Decoder-side ME. Experimental results show coding gain up to 0.8% BD rate reduction compared to a method based on explicit signaling.
