Abstract
Among the number of known psychological effects associated with the variation of display size, Realistic Feeling induced by wide screen display is the most familiar and important one.
The authors have studied the nature of this effect both by a psychophysical method in which the induced effect in direction sensation of the observer is measured using a hemispheric display, and by the conventional subjective evaluation method.
It is shown by the experiments that the induced effect increases logarithmically with the display angle and that, for a narrow angle of display which is less than 20° in visual angle, the measure of Realistic Feeling is very small and it saturates as the display angle reaches above 80°.
