Abstract
This paper describes a new beam indexing color TV system. The beam indexing signal is initially picked up only at the start of each vertical scan from index phosphor stripes which are provided outside the upper effective display area of a new color CRT, and temporally stored during the successive frame scanning. The stored signal is retrieved at the beginning of each horizontal scan, signal processed, and applied to the beam indicating its instantaneous location.
As the beam indexing is kept stable without bias beam current, high color purity and saturation characteristics are obtained.
Some conditions required for correct color reproduction are examined and discussed.
