Abstract
A generalized method for constructing fixed-length binary block recording codes is presented. We regard the coding rule as some restrictions for constructing both “m-n” block converted codeword sets and “NRZL rule or NRZI (M) rule” recording waveform pattern sets, where “m” is dataword length and “n” is codeword length. The effective number of codeword under each restriction is derived. Then, these restrictions are expressed by the finite automaton model. Using this model, we propose an algorithm for constructing actual recording codes included Zero Disparity Code and Low Disparity Code. We also illustrate ZDC derived.
