Abstract
Audio systems in teleconferencing systems are generally composed of loudspeakers and microphones.
In these systems, acoustic coupling paths are formed due to the direct and reverberant sound waves among loudspeakers and microphones. Howling occurs in certain conditions, and this debases speech transmission quality.
This paper deals theoretically with howling prevention in multi-point teleconferencing systems.
It presents conditions to prevent systems from howling and the relation of howling to reproduced sound pressure level.
