Abstract
To investigate the role of binocular eye movement plays in stereoscopic imaging, we constructed a new 3D image processing system and a binocular eye movement analyzer. This system can control 3D image output by measuring binocular eye movement simultaneously. To determine how both eyes interact, we measured binocular eye movement while subjects viewed a moving stimulus with one eye and a still stimulus with the other. Based on an analysis of the binocular eye movement and subjects' introspections, we found that asymmetric conjugate or convergent eye movement occurred, and that there was a tendency toward convergent eye movement with stereopsis to occur. While the type of binocular eye movement varies with the individual, there was a tendency toward convergent eye movement to occur when the stimulus was in front of the screen.
