Lossless Video Coding Technique using Markov Models

Abstract

We proposed a lossless video coding technique based on entropy coding using Markov models. For effective coding, we introduced three kinds of Markov models; the one to use is selected frame by frame. Furthermore, we developed a new method of generating a probability table for entropy coding from the previous frame's table, the previous frame data, and the current frame data. Simulation results show that our method is superior to the JPEG spatial mode and suitable for lossless video coding.
