Wide area surveillance system with camera array

Abstract

We have been investigating a system that can monitor a wide (room size or more) area that keeps both a result-images resolution and a band-width from camera array to the monitoring site. We propose a new wide area surveillance system which uses random access camera array. Our system can provide both a low-resolution, wide-area-view and two or more high-resolution, ROI (region of interests) -views simultaneously. With 4 by 4 cameras of prototype we observed 1 wide-view and 2 moving objects at the same time.
