Abstract
A IM-pixel progressive-scan interline-transfer CCD (IT-CCD) image sensor has been developed. The number of effective pixels is 1024 (H)×1024 (V) and its unit-pixel size is 10μm square. The device has two H-CCDs, located at the upper and lower of the image area. In the device, progressive scanning provides a 1024×1024 resolution image at 30 frame/sec. The device also can be operated in a 512×512 progressive scan at 60 frame/sec by combining the charges in each of two by two pixels. Furthermore, the device can perform a 1024×1024 interlace scan at 60 field/sec. The two H-CCD structure makes it possible to obtain a upside-down image without image processing. The variety of operation modes are attractive for many kinds of industrial, medical and scientific applications.
