Abstract
The LCD is an ideal device for an SLM because of its strong dielectric anisotropy and extremely low half-wave voltages. The SLM is a device that can modulate the phase, amplitude, polarization or K-vector of input light spatially and dynamically. In this paper, the characteristics of the LCDs and its application to an SLM for a real-time 3-D holography is described. Because it should be required high performance for SLMs to apply holographic devices, it's a good method to investigate the performance of LCDs as an SLM.
