Abstract
The first sample of the field emission display (FED) was reported by LETI, France, 10 years ago. Since then, various laboratories, academic institutions and companies have been proceeding the research on the FED. There were some technical information and topics regarding new types of electron source in the recent year. This paper describes the movement of the FED development and the present status of the development of the FED using the Spindt-type cathode.
