Abstract
We successfully controlled the effective trap density in the photorefractive strontium barium niobate single crystals by heat treatment without affecting their absorption. The annealing temperature should be higher in the case higher optical sensitivity is desired while the lower temperature is required in the case storage capacity and higher diffraction efficiency are preferable. Annealing duration was also determined by obtaining the oxygen diffusion constant in SBN. We also demonstrated the digital holographic storage in which the recording speed was 20kbps at 10mW exposure and 1/4 coding was proposed.
