Abstract
In the next few years, BS and terrestrial digital broadcasting will be started. To carry out the new broadcasting services while continuing the conventional ones, it is necessary for the network in the broadcasting stations to handle various kind of video signals such as HDTV, SDTV, etc and these compressed ones. To cope with this requirement, we have developed a large scale capacity Rate-Free Matrix switcher, which can switch the signals of wide speed ranges up to 1.5Gbps. In this paper, we present structure, design and characteristics of this switcher.
