We have proposed an object-based video database system which will be used as the main system in broadcasting stations in the future. We have developed a test model of the object-based video database system. We have implemented our proposed object-based retrieval method using a video example and features of moving objects. The proposed method consists of two steps for the comparison process between the video example and video in the database, the first step being a categorizing process of the motion, and the second step being a calculating process of the similarity in distance from the video example in the same category. We verified our proposed method by a retrieval experiment using a soccer program.
